Derek and Rosemary Snibson (Friday 3:15pm)
Expectations, Disappointment and Hope
Come explore the challenges of dislocation for Indigenous communities in an urban context. Derek and Rosemary will share stories about health, recovery from institutional living, and the journey of equipping leaders. What are the disappointments and pathways of hope that can emerge over time in each of our contexts?
Simon and Claire (Saturday 11:30am)
Intentional Mission Workers: A Mission Strategy for North Australia
Simon and Claire discuss their work alongside Aboriginal Christians both in remote Indigenous communities and in Darwin.
Tamie Davis (Friday 2pm)
Doing Theology Cross-Culturally
How can we share together with Christians of other cultures (even when they seem to be wrong!)? Tamie will examine a Tanzanian practice that on the surface looks incompatible with Christian belief but ultimately has deep roots in Christian discipleship.
C & J (Saturday 11:30am)
Mission and Persecuted Christians
Many Christians live under the daily threat of persecution by their government, their community, and their families. Hear some of their stories and how we can encourage and support them, and those who walk alongside them, in their life and mission.
Alyson Peatman (Saturday 11:30am)
Raising Mission-Minded Kids
How do you encourage your children to be mission-minded and lifelong supporters of global missions? Discipling children in a rapidly changing world seems to get more complex by the minute as new ideologies, parenting advice, complex social issues and the demands of every day seek to overwhelm us.
Stephen Tan (Friday 2pm)
Discipling Second-Generation Immigrant Christians for Missions
Mike Raiter famously told a crowd of ministry workers at the 2018 Oxygen Conference: ‘Asian immigration is saving the Australian church.’ How can the Australian church better disciple second-generation immigrant Christians for missions?
Julie-anne Laird (Friday 3:15pm)
Engaging with Different Types of People
How do you talk with atheists, agnostics, seekers, and those from other religions about your faith? Are they apathetic or just answer, ‘I don't know’? Are they thoughtful and have some interesting answers? What do you do when they're hostile? Learn how to engage with a variety of belief systems.
L & I (Friday 3:15pm)
Festivals & Funerals, Rituals & Rites of Passage
Milestone events give us opportunities to connect. How can we unpack the meanings and point them to the Lord? How can we use Christian celebrations to connect cross-culturally? Discover how to use these events as connections with Muslims and others.
Neville and Elspeth Carr (Friday 2pm)
Growing your cross-cultural awareness: hospitality is your secret weapon
This workshop is for you if you want God to inspire you to open your heart and home cross-culturally. Discover talents. Share experiences. Brainstorm. Pray. Identify ways to reflect God’s love by creating room (and yummy food!) for others.
Michelle Jackson and Wei-Han Kuan (Friday 2pm)
Next Steps: Is mission work for me? What steps do I take to get there?
Is mission a possibility for you? What might it look like? Where might I end up? Meet with Wei-Han and Michelle and explore what the next steps in what mission might look like for you.
